Insufficient onboarding can put the lives of participants and staff at risk, in fact in can put your entire business at risk!

Participant and Staff Onboarding meets over 50 Quality Indicators from the NDIS Practice Standards. Getting and giving the right information and documentation means we not only meet compliance requirements, but are able to better understand our Participants, the impact of their disability and their needs. Providing person centred supports, abiding by their choice and control and designing comprehensive Support Care plans means we can help our Participants live their best possible lives!

Staff are either your biggest asset - or your biggest liability! Just because someone interviewed really well and they said they have 'years of experience' it does not guarantee quality service delivery. At the end of the day, it is an organisational responsibility (that's you) to ensure safe and quality service delivery, knowing (and proving) that your staff have the capability, training and skills to work with your Participants

 What you will learn:

  • How to successfully and practically meet Outcomes and Quality Indicators relating to Onboarding

  • What documentation is required to be given to Participants during Onboarding - incl how to evidence that to Auditors.

  • What documentation you need to get from Participants to ensure you are mitigating risks and able to design a comprehensive and outcome focused Support Care Plan

  • What information must be clearly explained to your Participant - the Auditors will be asking them!

  • How to effectively conduct Onboarding meetings, asking the right questions, in the right way, in a Trauma Informed manner, to ensure you have a holistic understanding of your Participants.

  • How to meet Choice and Control requirements by getting the right match between staff and Participants.

  • How to complete Participant and home risk assessments - not just ticking boxes, but thinking outside the box to find out the right information that will protect your Participants and staff and align with Work Health and Safety laws.

  • How to utilise all information to abide by compliance regulations and design appropriate Support Care Plans.

  • The importance of obtaining the Participants preferred method of communication and designing communication plan

  • Comprehensive understanding of every step that must be completed prior to service/support delivery.

  • Evidencing that you have done due diligence when employing staff and ensuring they have the Capability and training to do the role

  • Compliance and best practice in inducting new staff - providing your staff with the vital knowledge and training to understand their responsibilities and provide safe, quality supports

  • NDIS HR and Work Health and Safety Compliance requirements

  • Dignity of Risk vs Duty of Care
