Learn and understand the complexities of working with clients with ASD. While every individual is different there are primary characteristics that are associated with ASD. The primary characteristics are 1) poorly developed social skills, 2) difficulty with expressive and receptive communication, and 3) the presence of restrictive and repetitive behaviors.

This training covers how we can best support someone by understanding how they communicate, how we can best communicate with them, and how their processing times affect their communication, actions and behaviours. What we say is very possibly not what they hear, which can lead to frustration and behaviours of concern.

By understanding the individuals behaviours and reactions you can mitigate risks and improve outcomes. It requires patience and tolerance to successfully support an individual with ASD.

Routine and structure is very important and can greatly benefit those with ASD - learn tools so you can help support them in this area.

This Counsellor led interactive training is a must for those working with Participants with ASD - you will learn:

  • What is Autism?
  • How does it manifest itself in individuals?
  • How do I deal with the behaviours of concern ?
  • Behavioural strategies
  • Communication strategies
  • Social skills strategies
  • Sensory strategies
  • Caring for a child with Autism

If you can't attend live, remember this session will also be recorded and a link to the recording will be sent to all registered attendees. Webinar recordings are available for up to 30 days after the live webinar.
